With Daryl’s crew still not back yet, Rick takes Carol on a supply run to the suburbs. The ride is tense, and Carol tries to break the ice by explaining why she felt killing Karen and David was the right thing to do: it was a quick death, better than them drowning in their own blood; she had to try to save lives. Rick says nothing.
I feel like, more than having a through-line, this episode consisted of a lot of scenes that offered one or two new details or characters or relationships, but ultimately there was not a good flow. That makes this episode particularly difficult to recap. Luckily for the most part, a correct timeline makes no difference.
The crew (Hank, Juliette, Rosalee, Monroe, and Renard) track Nick down to the farmhouse. The family is scared out of their minds, and the patriarch threatens to shoot the intruder.
A slow start with a few big reveals… oh, and it is at another school dance.
The coven elders show up to interrogate Fiona and Cordelia about Madison's disappearance; and the uneasy peace between the witch factions crumbles.
The remaining four contestants meet with Dave Salmoni, a naturalist, who introduces the contestants to a bunch of exotic birds. The challenge this week is to create a human/bird hybrid, based on one of the birds they have been shown.
Charlie returns and the team works with Dorothy from Oz to defeat the wicked witch. Yup, for real.
The most important thing we learn tonight is how Davina came into Marcel’s care. Ready?
Tyreese is insane over Karen’s murder. David’s too, but he wasn’t trying to get into David’s pants. He shows Carol, Rick, and Daryl the bodies, and when Rick tries to calm him down, Tyreese gets angrier and punches Rick.
We pick up precisely where season two left off - or, more accurately, we pick up a few minutes before the season two finale. Nick is still zombified, trapped in a steel coffin, and on his way to Austria.
