A virtual love letter to early-'80s Italian zombie cinema (with a few dashes of early Peter Jackson affection, if I'm not mistaken), The Demon's Rook is most assuredly a "niche" horror flick.
Daylight is sort of a weird entry into the "found footage" canon, in that it's much more of a procedural than a chase story or a trek deep into the forest. The filmmakers earn points for finding an interesting entry point for their tale of religion-based fear and paranoia
Contracted is little more than a character study of a woman who is slowly (and literally) falling apart -- but is too busy, too naive, and too damn scared to face her problems and get her life back on track. But that makes Contracted sound like a dry or preachy affair, which it is not.
