If you’re too young to remember Psycho…you’ve got a lot to learn!

Most Memorable Psycho/Intensely Scary Moms in Horror

Forums:

Just watched the trailer for the re-imagining of "Carrie". This got me thinking. Not sure Moore can pull it off, but want to find out. That led to this idea. Who do you think should be on this list? Naturally, I'm starting off with Piper Laurie in the original 1976 "Carrie". The other two who came immediately to mind? Betsy Palmer as Mrs. Vorhees in the original 1980 "Friday the 13th" and a more obscure one I consider on my list of classics: Shirley Knight as Jerolyn in 1982's "The Sender". Your additions and thoughts?

I DIDNT KNOW. . . .

Forums:

Started REwatching one or two of the films me mate, klownz, has on his horror elimination game. REwatched the unedited THE EXORCIST. STILL a great flick, no big whoop on the parts that were edited originally (the "spider walk" which actually looked rushed and silly) BUT. . . . . . something I DID NOT REMEMBER and just realized. Evidently Dee Snider took the name CAPTAIN HOWDY in his entertaining horror/thriller STRANGELAND from the name Regan gives her "invisible" friend. Who I already knew was the demon PAZUZU (who I did a blog on awhile back, by the same name).

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY

Forums:

I KNOW I'M GOING TO REGRET SAYING THIS, BEING A BIG FAN OF HORROR AND SCIENCE FICTION.  BUT LAST NIGHT MY HUSBAND AND I SAT AND WATCHED "2001" FOR THE FIRST TIME FROM START TO FINISH.

I HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT ALWAYS CAME IN AT THE MIDDLE OR THE BEGINNING OR SOMEWHERE INBETWEEN.  AND FOR REASONS I CAN'T EXPLAIN, NEVER SEEN IT THROUGHT TIL THE END.

WELL LAST NIGHT IT WAS ON "SHOWTIME" AND WE DECIDED TO WATCH IT FROM THE BEGINNING.

Forums:

WOKE UP LAST NIGHT AROUND 2AM.  COULDN'T SLEEP. TURNED ON TV AND THERE WAS A MOVIE THAT I HAVE TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT AND HAVN'T SEEN SINCE I WAS A CHILD. FITS RIGHT INTO MY LOVE OF "GHOST" STORIES AND CREEPY MANSIONS (WHEN DONE CORRECTLY) AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM.  REMINDED ME ALOT OF "THE HAUNTING" 1960, ONLY A LITTLE MORE VIOLENT.  "THE LEGEND OF THE HELL HOUSE" 1973.  THANKS

BLACK AND WHITE HORROR

Forums:

I know some fans do not go back and look at the foundation of horror, others revel in it. Like many things, sometimes the basics are the best. Sometimes you have to have an eye for it, an appreciation of nostalgia, an historians type of understanding of time, place, behavior. There are a lot of treasures in the past. From the first full length horrors like DER GOLEM, NOSFERATU, THE CABINET OF DR.
