At this Saturday night's Annie Awards (the animation industry's hightest honor), Tim Burton was bestowed the honorary Winsor McCay Award for his work in, and in support of, animation. Burton couldn't be at the awards ceremony (held at UCLA), but he created an acceptance speech that's actually a short horror film, and in a subgenre he's not yet explored -- the J-horror. Director Kevin Greutert has reached an agreement with the producers of Saw VII. The Saw VI helmer was to have directed the Paranormal Activity sequel before he was hauled back to the franchise -- on which he served as editor for its first five films -- to replace Saw VII's original director, David Hackl. And yesterday, Greutert announced (via HouseofJigsaw.com's message board) that he begins shooting the seventh film in the Saw series (and the first to be in 3-D), Saw VII Endgame Deluxe, today.
Looks like California’s smash melodic-metalcore unit Bleeding Through have a busy year looming: not only will they be headlining a new USA tour this spring, but they’ve also got a new album scheduled for release in April.
