What movie scared you as a child?

Razor Blade's picture

I remember going to see SLEEPING BEAUTY as a child. When we got home that night, I was afraid that the evil queen was on top of our house as my dad pulled into the driveway. That movie really got to me!

Anyone else with memories to share?

The movie IT by Stephen King, one I was, and am, afraid of clowns, this movie did not help that fear and that frickin' clown was wicked freaky!!!! I, to this day, cannot watch that by myself and if you knew me that is saying a lot.

The Bob Hope horror/comedy The Ghost Breakers. I was maybe six years old when I saw it on TV. It had a zombie on it that scared the hell out of me. Many nightmares ensued.

The Changeling.

That terrified me! I hid behind the couch cushion on the scary parts of the movie; but that didn't stop the terror I felt for months to come. I used to be completely scared of ghosts. I welcome them now

Shit, I forgot. You are absolutely right! And I change my vote from The Ghost Breakers to The Wizard Of Oz. Although for me, it wasn't the Munchkins, it was those goddamn flying monkeys -- for my money, the most freakish creatures in the history of cinema. Also, the close-up of the witch's face in the crystal ball was always a sphincter-relaxing moment. Brrrr... I still get the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it!

I must say, not to be rude or start anything, I am just a blunt girl, anyhow, I really don't understand why the Wizard of Oz would be scary in any way, shape or form. That was a feel good movie, fun, exciting and a musical to boot....so in short....wow, I mean cause damn!

My first movie was The Hills Have Eyes (1977) I saw it when I was 6 in 1982. Funny enough the movie The 7th Sign(1988) was the one that scared the crap out of me. We saw it at a drive in and to this day I can't watch the movie. Maybe it was having a religious grandmother remind you of the Apocalypse every day or maybe it was just Demi Moore. Don't know.
