ANNE RICE AN X-TIAN?

ANNE RICE AN X-TIAN?

Muphukka's picture

I read online that Anne Rice is now a Christian and that she is working on a book about a 7 year old Jesus. The story is told from his POV. Anyone know about this? The book might be out and maybe there is a Rice keener out there who has read it?

I am tripping out on this one.

Yeah, we posted on this on another thread. She has found the church again after her husband Stan passed away and has decided that she cannot write vampire/witch novels anymore. Her books from now on will be based on scripture and the life of Jesus. She can bite my lily white posterior. Good for her, but she's become one of those psycho reformed people and I hope her books sit on the shelves and collect dust.

Sorry I mised the other thread.

This stuff blows my mind.

Stan was a sucky poet BTW.

Oh, np. Sorry if it sounded that way Yeah, I agree, Stan's poetry left something to be desired. I find it really interesting that she left the church over the death of her child and returned over the death of her husband. Oh well, I wish her well for the hours of enjoyment she's given me, but I fail to understand why she thinks it was all now evil.

That's right. I forgot about the loss of her child angle.

Apparently she was deeply entrenched in some sort of goth scene in N.O. and would throw these elaborate parties for the youngsters in the area. So her leaving that area and moving to CA and starting to write from a different perspective is really mind-boggling to me. Doesn't she have a kid too?

I went to her website, but the place was so peaceful looking that I started to get a headache.

Holy shit!! I hadn't looked at her site in a while. I can't believe she's playing AveMaria as her music background. Uggh....makes me want a drink.

It may sound corny, but it's like a death of a friend to me, what she's doing!! I started reading (and indeed enjoying!!) her work at a very young age, grew up with 'em. Oh well. It's just...i never imagined she'd go out like this!!!!!!!

Do y'all think Hurricane Katrina had anything to do with it, her finding of Religion again, that is? Didn't she have property in the French Quarter??

Cheers!!

I completely agree. As foolish as it may seem, it's like I lost one of my best friends.

As for the Katrina connection, look at the big brain on Lucy!! That's actually a brilliant observation. Unfortunately she drank the koolaid before then.

I know. Her entire about-face has me seriusly spun out. I was not expecting that...and she could have "found her faith" again and not gotten so namby-pamby on us.

Wow, this is the first I heard about this. I didn't even know Stan had died.

I'm sorry for her loss, and if she wants to become Christian, she has a right to, but I don't understand why so many Christians have to lock themselves into these black and white positions about things. Horror made her career. Acting like she's suddenly above it is just hypocritical. I bet she won't be turning down any royalty checks from her old work (which, let's face it, is the only work that'll continue to sell worth a damn).

I'm sorry she went through a tragedy, but I'm disappointed in her for handling it like this. With all her money, she could have just gone to a good therapist.

I saw a very short snippet of an interview with her talking about the book out now about Jesus's life. They asked about sales and following and she pointed out that the Christian Book Marketers, or something like that, made it their book of the year. It'll be funny to watch her a. discover (much like the highest grossing Christian rock bands) that this market is not as wide as she thought and b. how quickly she will fade with them. This warm, fuzzy embrace she's getting is just because her becoming an off the chart re-born is like giving them a prize. The level of smugness they can show in her conversion is directly related to the amount of hate and hypocrisy they dumped on her before. She's been given so much grief in the past with demonstrators and picketers and her books being banned from school libraries that it utterly boggles my mind that she would now embrace this lifestyle. My heart goes out to her, but it makes me doubt her common sense.
