You may have already heard about TheHorrorDome.com, a one-stop-shopping superstore based in New York specializing in horror props for just about any budget. Their original work has been seen on The Tonight Show and Mythbusters, at Universal Studios Hollywood and other Halloween attractions. While the bulk of their clientèle are seeking high-quality Halloween props and costumes, the Dome's artists have fashioned some incredible full-size replicas of famous movie monsters for serious collectors. Fans with very deep pockets will need to cough up some major coin to own these massive and ultra-detailed pieces, but for those of us who don't have several thousand dollars lying around unspent, the site does offer some excellent images of their work.
Today we focus on their movie werewolf-themed pieces, which include this colossal full-size statue (7.5 feet tall!) of an upright lycanthrope from Joe Dante's classic The Howling, built on a steel armature and featuring genuine yak hair and glass eyes; they also offer a bust of the same creature.
Loving treatment is also given to that film's 1981 counterpart, John Landis' equally revered An American Werewolf in London: for this one, they not only offer a massive 1:1 replica of the four-legged wolf from that film, but also the zombified Jack, the film's first victim and comic relief.
In the same mode, they also sell a full-size bust of the wolfman from another John Landis project: Michael Jackson's Thriller.
The full-size statues and busts also include a familiar creature from H.R. Giger's Necronomicon series (the basis for the xenomorph in Alien), and an incredible nine-foot-tall Yeti. There's way too much cool stuff to list here, so be sure to pay a visit to their site. It'll blow your mind!
