This morning I woke up with only one goal for the day: to write a news story about a strangler-centric murder mystery. So when I arrived at work it was a surprise (and an extreme honor) to find that there was a strangler-centric murder mystery film in the works. Hallelujah! I can die now, I?ve seen all there is to see in this life! According to the Hollywood Reporter, Brian DePalma (Carrie, Scarface) has signed on with producer Gale Ann Hurd and Valhalla Motion Pictures to direct The Boston Stranglers, a film detailing the early-60s Beantown killings and their controversial resolution. The screenplay was adapted by Alan Rosen (Nickelodeon?s All That) from Susan Kelly?s book of a similar, longer title. The events depicted in the film have been the center of several attempts at adaptation, most memorably the 1968 film version starring Tony Curtis and Henry Fonda. Hurd and Valhalla have most recently produced the upcoming Hulk film which is set to release on June 13th. No production start has been set as of now, but what is known is that I can?t wait for am intense, psychological thriller based on historical events written by the man behind such TV shows as All That and Kenan and Kel?
