Every summer brings with it a slew of new genre films, both mainstream blockbusters and low-budget indies. This season is no different. At FEARnet, we’re especially psyched, of course, about the horror titles due out in theaters over the next several months. For example, Sam Raimi’s long-awaited return to horror, Drag Me to Hell, is finally arriving. Having already seen the film, we can assure you it was indeed worth the wait. Final Destination 4 3D could also be a fun ride. We visited the New Orleans set last year, and think merging the latest 3D technology with the roller-coaster sensibilities of this franchise is a great idea. And, hey, speaking of set visits, we also checked out the Toronto set of Jennifer’s Body, Diablo Cody’s first foray into horror, and hold some pretty high hopes for this twisted comedy.

You can access our coverage of these movies and all the other big releases of summer 2009 through this convenient Summer Movie Guide. Click on the titles below to access our analysis, interviews and reviews. (And don’t forget to drop us a line and let us know what you’re excited about.) Have a great summer, stay cool, and stay scared.

Terminator Salvation (May 15)
The first Terminator film set entirely in the post-apocalyptic war against the machines, Terminator Salvation stars Christian Bale as the now grown-up resistance leader John Connor and Sam Worthington as a mysterious stranger who could save or destroy him.

Drag Me to Hell (May 29)
Genre icon Sam Raimi returns to his roots with this much anticipated horror-comedy about a young woman (Alison Lohman) battling a demonic curse. Justin Long (a.k.a. the Mac guy) co-stars as the world’s most understanding boyfriend.

Orphan (July 24)
In the tradition of The Bad Seed, The Exorcist and The Omen comes this tale of an adopted girl whose new parents are unaware of her true nature. Jaume Collet-Serra, who helmed the 2005 House of Wax, directs.

The Final Destination (August 28)
The series with perhaps the most elaborate kills in horror history returns in a format for which it’s perfectly suited. After all, can you really make a movie that wants to be gimmicky too gimmicky?

Halloween 2 (August 28)
Rob Zombie returns to direct the sequel to his remake, though not a remake of the original sequel. Got that? Good. Then maybe you can figure out what Sheri Moon Zombie’s doing in this film when her character died last time around.

Whiteout (September 11)
Based on the acclaimed graphic novel written by Greg Rucka, Whiteout stars Kate Beckinsale as a U.S. Marshall tracking a serial killer in Antarctica, where the sun’s about to set for six months. 30 Days of Night meets Silence of the Lambs?

Pandorum (September 18)
Ben Foster and Dennis Quaid star as a pair of astronauts who awake in deep space to discover they’re not alone. Here’s hoping this film follows the example of space-bound horror like Alien and Event Horizon.

Jennifer’s Body (September 18)
Megan Fox (a.k.a. FHM’s “Sexiest Woman in the World’) stars as a possessed hottie who eats boys and makes out with her girlfriend, played by the adorable Amanda Seyfried. Diablo Cody scripted this horror comedy, so expect some awfully precious one-liners amidst the gore.
