Derek Mears Friday the 13th

With the DVD/Blu-ray release of the Friday the 13th remake 'Killer Cut' edition hitting shelves June 16th, we thought it would be fun to sit down with Jason Vorhees himself, Derek Mears, to reminisce about Jason's most recent escapades. Expect to see the full video here soon, in the mean time, check out what Derek had to say about a potential Friday the 13th sequel after the jump.

When asked about the direction he’d like to see the sequel, here's what Derek had to say:

“I would like to take it in the same direction they are doing it now, keeping it based in reality. I know for a fact that when the writers wrote the first one they didn't go super elaborate on the kills because they expected to do a sequel, figuring it was gonna be a hit so for the sequel they wanted to leave somewhere for them to go so they could do bigger more elaborate over the top kills. I'm excited about seeing that, that's what I would like to see in the sequel.

I don't know what they are planning on doing for the sequel, honestly, but in my opinion, I think less is more. If you just touch on aspects of his past, it's like the monster outside of the box theory; it's scarier when you don't know. I myself wouldn't want to see what he was like when he was younger. I would like to touch on it, but then move on.”

Platinum Dunes is currently working on a reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street, which is shooting in Chicago now. We can't help but wonder if a Friday the 13th sequel won't be their next project. What do you think?
