The titular creature from The Creature from the Black Lagoon made quite an entrance at Universal Studios Hollywood today, escaping from his aquarium and armed guards (terrorizing journalists and photographers along the way) in order to (what else?) sing and dance in his own musical extravaganza. Hit the jump for pics.
Creature from the Black Lagoon – A Raging Rockin’ Show is based on the 1954 film, but also incorporates the common, over-the-top stage show flare that theme park shows tend to deliver these days. Complete with a 'floating' Rita boat and mist creeping from the floor, the stage is designed to look like the Amazon swamp where the film takes place.
However the best part of the set, besides the giant creature (think the size of King Kong from the park’s Studio Tour before it went up in flames) are the cables attached to an oval in the ceiling, allowing Kay and the Creature to 'swim' through the ocean.
Creature from the Black Lagoon – A Raging Rockin’ Show runs 25 minutes with performances throughout the day and opens to the public tomorrow at Universal Studios Hollywood. Check out the premiere event pics below.
