We got the word out last month that Slayer frontman Tom Araya had been sidelined by serious back problems, forcing the band to push back the landmark American Carnage tour with fellow thrash icons Megadeth and Testament – a run originally scheduled to begin last month. We're now pleased to report that Tom's surgery was a success, and he's on back the road to recovery... and hopefully ready to rock this summer. Get more info on the rescheduled tour after the jump!

Araya's back condition (officially diagnosed as “Cervical Radiculopathy”), possibly exacerbated by the singer/bassist's trademark hair-swinging stage moves, was treated by a fairly routine surgical procedure last week – which, according the band's manager, was “a resounding success.” Shortly afterward Araya contacted guitarist Kerry King to say he was “Awake and feeling good... whatever [the doctor] did, it feels better.”

The big three bands posted their revised Carnage schedule yesterday, which begins with a European tour in July, then proceeds to the North American leg beginning August 11th in Albany, NY – the first of 26 shows across the US and Canada, completing on Labor Day weekend in Portland, OR. Take note that other conflicts prevented rescheduling of shows in El Paso, Houston, Nashville, Duluth and Louisville (those with tickets for those venues will get full refunds), but new stops have been added in Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego, and Sacramento.

You can see the completely updated itinerary and ticket info right now at the official Slayer, Megadeth  and Testament websites.
