You can’t keep a good dream stalker down, especially when it comes to collector interest, so even without a new movie release in 2011, Freddy Krueger is representin’ at the American International Toy Fair this week.
With the success of their Krueger leather prop claw and new A Nightmare on Elm Street figures in 2010, NECA is going back to the classic films to capture an iconic Freddy moment from each film in action figure form. A Nightmare on Elm Street features extendo-arms Freddy with a swappable skull head, A Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy’s Revenge gets grimace-faced Freddy with a swappable screaming head, and the A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors figure features the grinning ghouls with his scarred chest exposed and the agonized faces of his victims pressing through. The swappable head is a screaming Freddy with a burnt cross in his brow. The figures will be available later this year.
If you missed this incredibly popular stylized sculpt Freddy Krueger figure when it debuted, and sold out, over a year ago, then Mike Drake, Director of Special Projects at Mezco, reveals Freddy fans are in luck. “We sold out Freddy and Jason, so they are returning this year with the Saw puppet which is brand new.” Drake confirms for collectors that want to know that the re-released Freddy features slightly different paint decoration from the original. It also comes with an accessory phone that features Freddy’s protruding tongue. The figures will be available later this year and at San Diego Comic Con.
