The Top 5 Questions We Want Answered in the 'Supernatural' Season Finale

Every year, the shocking Supernatural finale has propelled the cast into a compelling new direction. Dean roasting in hell, Lucifer unleashed, and Sam being swallowed up are just some of the jaw-dropping twists that viewers have been hit over the head with. Season six is shaping up to be no exception, so, after the jump, I'm asking The Top Five Burning Questions That Need Answering.

1. Walls Come Tumbling Down

Ever since Sam mysteriously escaped from his pit prison, something hasn't been quite right. Maybe that's because he not only came back soulless, but Sam has no recollection of the torture that transpired while trapped alongside Lucifer and Michael. With mental barriers built up high to protect him, some cracks have already lead to flashes of pain. Sam has been warned if those walls should ever completely crumble, the memories and anguish could be unbearable. So will the finale resolve this poignant point and, worst-case scenario, ultimately break Sam or change him irrevocably?

2. Winning

Desperate times may call for desperate measures, but Cas has taken it to the extreme. In an effort to beat down Raphael and stop Armageddon from re-igniting, Castiel has made a deal with the demon, Crowley. Add on hunting for Purgatory, lying to the Winchesters, killing other angels, or powering up with souls, and Castiel is walking a fine line on the dark side these days. So far, he's still remained Dean and Sam's trusted friend and guardian angel, but to what extent will Castiel go to achieve harmony in heaven? Would he sacrifice the boys to achieve those goals? And more importantly, is he even wrong?

3. The Road to Purgatory

On Castiel's command, Crowley has been painting the town a bloody red in order to find Purgatory, that fabled land of untapped lost souls. So far, the closest they've come is accidentally letting Eve, The Mother of All Monsters, loose. With time ticking away, how will they finally open that doorway? And if it's mission accomplished, will it actually turn the tide in Castiel's favor? And will he be blindsided when Crowley betrays him?

4. Death Becomes Them

The Supernatural producers have never shied away from tormenting the Winchester boys by knocking off some their closest allies, and, once again, they've promised the Grim Reaper will come calling. So looking at the group of usual suspects, who is going to kick it?

Sam and Dean? Been there, done that! The brothers have both croaked multiple times, gotten a toasty tan in hell, and come back. It would be anti-climatic to have the Winchesters succumb, unless they end up in front of the Pearly Gates this time.

Castiel, Raphael, and Balthazar? Lately, there's been too many angels in the Supernatural outfield and with a war raging in the heavens, someone is bound to have their wings permanently clipped. With God AWOL, an angel still has to govern that realm so despite the rumors of his upcoming demise, our bet is the best man to stay in charge is Castiel . With that in mind, expect Balthazar and Raphael to be casualties in this epic battle.

Bobby? Family has always been the Winchesters' Achilles' heel, so what better way to hurt them than to bump off their father figure, Bobby? Most of the other hunters have already met similar disturbing demises yet with such a strong connection to the boys, their past, and this hunting profession, we're willing to bet Bobby is in the clear this season.

Crowley? He's the cockroach of the demon community. More than once, the brothers believed they kicked Crowley's evil ass back to the nether regions, only to have him pop up again. Heck, Castiel even burned his bones once, well, sort of. But with the stakes being so personal, Crowley's "Get Out of Hell" free card is about to expire.

Lisa and Ben? They wouldn't dare kill off Dean's on again/off again lady interest Lisa and her young son, would they? Let's see. Mother, girlfriend, father, cousin, grandfather, and friends. In hindsight, no one seems safe from Death's icy touch on this show so yep, those two have massive bullseyes on their backs. However, there's still plenty of drama to mine with them and really, who doesn't think Ben is Dean's son? They shouldn't be pushing daisies anytime soon.

5. It's The End Of The World As We Know It

When the chips are down and the Earth is about to become a demon playground, Sam and Dean have always made the tough decisions to set things right, even if it means sacrificing themselves in the process. They've faced and defeated angels before (Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer), so now with Castiel going all heavy-handed, will they have to do something equally drastic to stop their valued colleague?

For the answers to all these questions (we hope!), check out the season 6 finale of Supernatural on Friday, May 20 on the CW.
