We are used to seeing zombies created by viruses, but vampire viruses are less common. In The Fall, the second book in the Strain trilogy, you get just that: a viruses that turns people vampiric. Of course, traditional “Old World” vampires also exist, and they don’t care for this new breed of vampires. Thus, war and bloodshed ensues - with humans caught squarely in the middle. The book was co-written by filmmaking maestro Guillermo Del Toro and author Chuck Hogan - who, though he has a lengthy list of novels to his name, counts the Strain books as his first foray into true horror.
