Exclusive: Matt Smith and Karen Gillan on the Next Episodes of 'Doctor Who'

The jaws of Doctor Who fans everywhere dropped to the ground with the revelation at the end of the show's last episode, a cliffhanger that ended with the words "Let's kill Hitler." So at Comic-Con, I spoke with stars Matt Smith, who plays the Eleventh Doctor, and Karen Gillan, who plays his lovely companion Amy Pond, about what's in store for their characters when the show's sixth season continues on BBC America on August 27th. After the jump, check out my video interview with both actors, and with Doctor Who writer Toby Whithouse (who's also known for creating a little series of his own, Being Human), in which they offer some tantalizing hints... and name their favorite Who monsters!

The wait is almost over. The second part of the thrilling new series of Doctor Who will soon return. The truth about River Song is out and the time has come for the Doctor to face his greatest demons. Venturing across centuries and galaxies, the Doctor, Amy and Rory will encounter the greatest war criminal in all of history - and Hitler. Together, they'll discover there's no scarier place in the universe than a child's bedroom and a visit to an alien quarantine facility will reveal to Rory a very different side to his wife. In a hotel where walls move, corridors twist and rooms vanish, death lies waiting. But the Doctor's time has yet to come. He has one last stop to make on his final journey - an old friend needs his help and an old foe must be defeated. But time catches up with us all and the Doctor can delay no more. By the shores of Lake Silencio, in Utah, all of time and space hang in the balance. And a NASA astronaut is waiting.

If you're wondering what to do with your time until the next episodes air, BBC America has the answer: Doctor Who Specials. There will be three in total, with the first airing August 13th. Here's the official lowdown...

Starting August 13, get ready for the return of Doctor Who with a collection of BBC AMERICA specials featuring the best moments of the Doctor, the monsters and companions. Also, take a rare look behind-the-scenes of the epic series and join celebrity fans as they discuss their favorite Doctor Who moments. The lineup includes Scott Adsit (30 Rock), Natalie Morales (Parks and Recreation), Alison Haislip (The Voice, G4 correspondent), Chris Hardwick (Nerdist), Eugene Mirman (Flight of the Conchords, Bob's Burgers), comedian/musician Reggie Watts, comedian Paul F. Tompkins and more. Doctor Who: Best of The Doctor premieres Saturday, August 13, 9:00pm ET/PT.

This first special will be followed by Doctor Who: Best of The Monsters on Saturday, August 20, at 9 PM ET/PT and Doctor Who: Best of The Companions on Saturday, August 27, at 9:50 PM ET/PT. Here's a look at what they have to offer....
