Musically, it seems like we just can’t get enough of the heavy stuff from Finland these days… and we’re about to get some more: Helsinki’s notorious vampire rockers The 69 Eyes are preparing to unleash their ninth studio album Back in Blood later this year. The band just poured out a crimson bucket-load of news on about the new record, and we’ve got it for you right here… all you gotta do is hit the jump!
Back in Blood brings a lot of talent to the table, including Grammy-winning producer Matt Hyde (whose credits include Slayer’s God Hates Us All) and Monster Magnet’s Ed Mundell. It also represents a creative departure for the traditionally glam-goth band, who decided to move into heavier territory: Hyde reports that the new material “rocks ten times harder than anything The 69 Eyes have previously done!” But despite the stylistic changes, rest assured the “Helsinki Vampires” are staying true to their horror-inspired roots.
According to the band’s press release, first single “Dead Girls Are Easy” will be “a nasty power anthem for sleazy pin-ups complete with a sing-a-long chorus aimed at those online chicks with the looks that kill!” Skater icon Bam Margera, a longtime advocate of the band will be directing the video (he previously directed the clip for their track “Lost Boys”). Other titles from the dozen-track CD include “The Good, The Bad & The Undead,” “Lips of Blood,” and “Suspiria Snow White.”
Back in Blood is due out in Europe on August 28th, with a North American release set for September. More details coming soon!
