Starz is getting dark. The pay cabler is going into development on two genre projects. First up is alien drama Incursion, from Steven S. DeKnight (the creator of Starz's most popular series, Spartacus). Incursion follows a "squad of soldiers caught in a war against a hostile alien race. Each season the battle will be fought on a new, exotic planet as humanity punches deeper into enemy territory."
J Michael Straczynski (Underworld: Awakening, Babylon 5) is tackling vampires in a very non-Twilight way. Titled Vlad Dracula, the drama will "blend historical facts of the 15th century Prince of Wallachia with the fictional Dracula, tracing his evolution from a revered ruler to the world’s most feared vampire."
Starz is relatively new to the world of serialized television, with only three shows to its credit: Spartacus (whose upcoming third season will be its last), Boss, and Magic City (both only having aired one season each so far).
