Described as a combination of teen cult classics like Heathers and high-school horrors like Jennifer's Body and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, Cheerleaders is the remake of a 2001 indie project of the same name by McKee &  Sivertson, and involves an occult-practicing teen who takes supernatural revenge on her school's football team... with unexpected and horrifying results.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Image sales picked up the rights after a successful Midnight Madness screening at this year's Toronto's International Film Festival. A theatrical release is now slated for Spring 2014.
