Here at FEARnet, we have been eagerly awaiting Jovanka Vuckovic's filmmaking debut, "The Captured Bird." The former editor-in-chief at Rue Morgue magazine just wrapped production on the short yesterday, so we are one step closer to checking out what promises to be a magical short. It got Guillermo del Toro's interest - he's producing. More after the jump.
Based on a heady mix of childhood nightmares, the writings of H.P Lovecraft, and fables from the Brothers Grimm, "The Captured Bird" follows a young girl whose chalk drawings transport her to a bizarre building where the walls bleed black and she witnesses the birth of supernatural creatures bent on destroying our world.
The sole human actor is a little girl named Skyler Wexler. People always say never to work with animals or children, but how can you resist when the child dances like a "Thriller" zombie and her favorite movie is Gremlins?
