When it comes to creeping us out, the folks who come up with grisly safety campaigns are experts. But as we found out via genre-friendly blog iO9, apparently the Dutch had workplace-safety shockers down to an art... literally.
Originally posted at Dutch site Geheugenvannederland and compiled and curated by design blogger Will Schofield for 50 Watts, this large collection of vintage safety campaign posters suggest that the dangers facing workers included gaseous ghouls (representing the dangers of carbon monoxide fumes)...
...and leering demons lurking within open flames.
They also weren't afraid to show you the aftermath of carelessness when operating power tools.
The posters range from the 1920s to the '70s, and they're all gorgeously horrifying. You can see the entire gallery of large images at 50 Watts.
