One of the downsides to live theater is the limited distribution. So if you missed out on Play Dead in New York City, now is your chance to catch up with in on DVD.
Meant as an ode to old magic-seance shows, with more than a wink to the Grand Guignol, Play Dead stars Todd Robbins as he takes the audience on a journey through the history of "spook shows" - and raises the dead in the process. The play blends scripted action with real illusions, cold readings, and lots and lots of blood. What else would you expect from a show co-directed by Teller, the smaller, silent half of magician duo Penn & Teller?
Play Dead will be available on DVD after it's premiere at the Fantastia Film Festival, but no release date has been set as of yet. Play Dead was co-directed by Teller and Shade Rupe.
