'Evil Dead' Remake Moved Up, Gunning for R Rating


Bruce Campbell confirmed the good news via twitter, Evil Dead is moving up one week in theaters.

Originally slapped with an NC-17 rating, Evil Dead is now looking to secure an R rating to make it into theaters. Director Fede Alvarez commented on cutting the film, in the tweet below.

It’s likely the film is still going to be insanely gory and this probably means we’ll be seeing an unrated version on DVD release. What do you think? Should filmmakers have to edit down their films for the ratings system?

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
