Dreamworks has acquired the rights to Leigh Bardugo’s teen fantasy, Shadow and Bone. The best-selling book tells the story of young Alina Starkov who must use her magical powers to help fight flesh-eating monsters who dwell in a darkness known as The Shadow Fold.
The film will be produced by David Heyman of Harry Potter fame and Jeffrey Clifford who produced Up in the Air. Shadow and Bone is the first novel in a proposed series of three. With Heyman attached things are already looking good for the movie and we can only speculate there will be more to come.
“We found not just a fantastic story, but one set in a mystical and fascinating world that will translate well to the big screen,” said DreamWorks production president Holly Bario said. “We are excited to begin adapting this book and look forward to working with David Heyman who has unparalleled proven success in this genre.”
