UK metallers Cathedral are pioneers in the field of doom metal, with their deep, dark chords and dirge rhythms among the most ominous and atmospheric in the genre. The band has announced that their final album The Last Spire will be their swan song, marking the end of a successful quarter-century career... and to commemorate the occasion, they've released their final video, “Tower of Silence.”
While Cathedral has not released many narrative-style videos in their time, this one was a special exception, so the band turned to Britain's most beloved horror cinema institutions, namely the films of Hammer and Amicus Studios, for visual inspiration. To complete the gothic touch, “Tower” was mostly shot at the ominous Gunnersbury Park Tower in London, with the members' "deaths" symbolically marked.
The Last Spire is due on April 30th from Metal Blade Records, and they're taking preorders now.
