Metal maniacs Killswitch Engage will finally be unleashing their long-awaited fourth album this summer, and they've recently divulged quite a few tantalizing tidbits via Blabbermouth.net… their second self-titled album (we’ll explain that in a moment) is scheduled to drop on June 30th from Roadrunner, and the boys really have our appetites worked up for this one. Click the title, O ye faithful, and behold!
So here’s the weird part… didn’t the band already put out a self-titled album when they first got together? Well, yes, they did… and no, they don’t suffer from any long-term memory lapses that I’m aware of. Frontman Howard Jones explained this redundancy thusly: "When we all couldn’t agree on an album title, someone suggested we just keep it self-titled and we all pretty much agreed,” he explains. “[It] gives it the feeling of a fresh new beginning."
Jones also promises the band is taking their sound in some dangerous new directions with this release. "It was time for us to step outside of our comfort zone and try something a little different with this record,” he said. “It definitely still sounds like us, but we needed to be refreshed and take things a little further."
Featuring tracks like “Reckoning,” “The Forgotten,” and “Light in a Darkened World” (which the band has already been playing live on their “Music as a Weapon” tour alongside Disturbed), the new material was co-produced by the band’s guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz and veteran producer Brendan O’Brien, who has also worked with AC/DC and Rage Against the Machine.
Be sure to look for Killswitch at the Rockstar Mayhem Festival this summer, sharing the main stage along with Marilyn Manson, Slayer and Bullet for My Valentine.
