Montreal-based “occult metal” outfit Necronomicon, who have shared the stage with metal legends like Morbid Angel, Mercyful Fate and Cannibal Corpse, are putting the finishing touches on The Return of the Witch – the group’s first full-length release since 2003’s The Sacred Medicines. The band reports the album is now in the final mixing and mastering stages, under the deft hand of producer Maor Appelbaum (who has worked with metal legends Rob Halford, Yngwie Malmsteen and Therion to name only a few). So far an official release date has not been confirmed.
On their blog, the band declares that the new CD will be “the best, most brutal and epic album” in their career. “It the first time that Necronomicon looks and sounds the way it should,” reports frontman Rob the Witch.
The band has recently launched a new official MySpace where you can preview tracks from the new album… including "The Time Is Now,” which according to the band also has a promo video in “large scale production,” and will be released just prior to the album launch.
