Earlier this fall we shared some stories from the making of Imaginaerum, the upcoming dark-fantasy feature film and concept album of the same name created by acclaimed gothic metal group Nightwish. The first taste of the combined musical and visual elements of that project is coming soon in the form of "Storytime," an epic music video that the band will premiere in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, the band has posted a teaser for the video, and you can view it on the flipside, along with a featurette about the making of the album. Check 'em out!
As we reported earlier, the $3.7 million-budgeted Imaginaerum (previously titled Imaginarium) ells the tale of a dying man who travels back to his childhood with the power of his imagination in an attempt to cheat death. The story is based on a concept by songwriter Tuomas Holopainen, who worked on the script with director Stobe Harju. In the most recent update on the film's news site, Harju had just completed the film's principal photography, and was moving forward into the editing process with complete confidence in the cast and crew. "With this team, our producers and the post production specialists, it's nearly impossible to fail," he declared.
"Storytime" premieres on Friday, November 11th, and the album Imaginaerum will reach North America on January 10th. The band will be launching a world tour shortly after that, kicking off with a huge show in Los Angeles on January 21st. In the meantime, check out this trailer, followed by a behind-the-scenes clip on the making of the album, hosted by Holopainen.
