Fan-favorite The Walking Dead character, The Governor, has finally been cast. And who will fill those shoes? Noted British actor David Morrissey, that's who. AMC made the official announcement today, ending speculation that has run rampant through the fan community since The Walking Dead first premiered. More details after the jump.
According to the network's press release, The Governor won't be introduced until season three, which has already received a 16-episode order. Season three is schedule to begin filming this spring, with a premiere date set for October.
The Governor is a well-known character from Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead graphic novels. He is the "leader of Woodbury, a small settlement of survivors, and becomes the chief antagonist for Rick Grimes and his group."
David Morrissey's long list of credits include The Reaping, The Other Boleyn Girl, Derailed, and Stoned.
