Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, Capcom and Slant Six Games squad-based shooter set in the timeline of Resident Evil 2 and 3, looks like an interesting, revisionist take on the series mythos, centered on an elite squad of Umbrella commandoes trying to cover up the incident at Raccoon City. However, with the new cinematic trailer revealed over at G4, we get to see another side to the story. More after the break.
We're barely introduced to the "other team" of survivors in Raccoon City, but they look to be every bit the badasses that the Umbrella squad are, with their motivation being the escape from the quarantine zone. Blows are naturally exchanged by the two groups, but it all comes to a trenchcoated head when everyone's favorite T-103 Tyrant, Mr. X, makes his entrance to the party.
The more I see of Operation Raccoon City, the more I'm excited by it. It looks to merge together the fast-action sensibilities of more modern action-horror games with the smoldering, nighttime aesthetic of old-school Resident Evil in an outright vicious fashion.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be released March 20th, 2012 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
