Although Rob Zombie has decided to push back the release date one more week for the 'sequel' to his legendary album Hellbilly Deluxe, he has chosen the track What? as the first single from the upcoming release. Rob’s also revealed some of the artists contributing to the album’s rough ‘n’ bloody visuals, and hinted that Hellbilly Deluxe 2 might be his final fling with the CD format. We’ve got the details below, so flip it over!
The new single is making the radio rounds this week, while the release date for Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool has now been set for November 17th. In a recent blog entry, RZ suggested that this CD may be his last, as he believes the format is basically dead. "All you will have left is digital downloads," he explains. "So before we say goodbye to the almighty CD, I thought I would give it a big send-off."
To make that final fling extra special, Zombie has enlisted the talents of Dan Brereton – of the cult fave Nocturnals comic series – as well as animator David Hartman and DC Comics artist Alex Horley, to round out the promotional art. "I love being able to get great artists involved on my CD artwork and this time is the best yet," Zombie continued. "Since this may be the last true CD I make, I thought I would gather three of the top artists around... These three masters have added an awesome edge to the CD package."
Expect a video to accompany What? this fall, as well as a massive tour beginning on October 29th. More details to come!
