Hip-Hop legend & multimedia mogul Snoop Dogg revealed the trailer to his upcoming short film, the urban fantasy-thriller Malice N Wonderland (tied to the soon-to-drop CD of the same name), on Rolling Stone’s official site this week, and if the footage on display is any indication, we’re in for a sexed-up bloodbath with some top-drawer talent, including Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx. Dig below the fold to find out more about the film and the album...
From the look of the trailer it seems the Doggfather is treading similar ground to his 2001 supernatural revenge thriller Bones, playing what Rolling Stone describes as "Batman-with-corn-rows" superhero (though apparently not a ghost this time) in the title role as a former boss who reunites with his old cronies to overthrow the villainous tyrant (Hawthorne James) who lords over the mythical city of Wonderland. Foxx appears in the film as what looks like a kind of MC/narrator/Greek chorus.
The mini-movie is directly linked to the content of the album – in a similar mode to 1994’s Murder Was the Case – and is slated for DVD release early next year. The Malice N Wonderland CD itself – Snoop’s tenth studio album – streets next Tuesday, and if the recent single I Wanna Rock – and its slick new video, which premiered last week – is any indication, we should be in for some epic new material.
