'Vampire Diaries' Gains A Sire

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the CW has announced a director for its upcoming Vampire Diaries pilot: Marcos Siega.  Siega started out directing videos for  311, Blink-182, Kelly Osbourne, and Weezer (to name a few).  His lengthy list of TV credits includes several shows that will be familiar to FEARnet readers: Dexter and True Blood, among others.

Vampire Diaries is based on the young adult book series of the same name – a series that author L.J. Smith is quick to point out came before Twilight.  The pilot focuses on a young woman in a small town who's the object of desire for two vampire brothers.  And wouldn't you know it – one is good, and one is evil.  The vamps have yet to be cast, but Steve McQueen's grandson, Steven McQueen (note that "n") will play the young woman's brother.  The show is being exec-produced by Scream king Kevin Williamson.
