'The Vampire Diaries' Leading TV Drama in People's Choice Awards Nominations

The vampire fans have spoken... With all due to respect to those TV junkies who love zombies and witches (as well as those who watch True Blood), it looks like there's no stopping the Salvatore brothers -- The Vampire Diaries has nabbed four nominations for the 2012 People's Choice Awards. That's more nominations than any other TV drama. (Only the musical-comedy Glee earned more, with seven nods.) More info after the jump.

The Vampire Diaries is nominated for Favorite Network TV Drama, Favorite TV Drama Actor (Ian Somerhalder), Favorite TV Drama Actress (Nina Dobrev), and Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show. Interestingly enough, all five of the nominees for the latter award -- Fringe, Supernatural, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, and The Walking Dead -- are horror/dark fantasy. Other genre nominees include Dexter and True Blood for Favorite Cable TV Drama, and Grimm and The Secret Circle for Favorite New TV Drama.

Fans can vote for their favorites through December 6th at the official People's Choice Awards site and via Facebook and Twitter. The Favorite New TV Drama and Favorite New TV Comedy categories will remain open for voting until the night of the show, which airs live on January 11 at 9/8c on CBS. A full list of nominees can be found on the People's Choice Awards website.
