Death Valley Episode 110

"Assault on Precinct UTF"

Written By: Eric Weinberg

Directed By: Austin Reading

Original Airdate: 7 November 2011

In This Episode...

The county jails are overcrowded, so the LAPD is bringing over a busload of prisoners to keep in the UTF's empty jail. A zombie busts into the squad room and bites one of the LAPD officers before Carla can take it down. The zombie is strapped with a bomb; luckily it is a dud. Unluckily, the transport bus crashes into the squad room and unleashes a torrent of recently-turned zombie inmates. The weapons room has been emptied, so the squad must use whatever objects it can find and fight hand-to-hand.

Daschle talks to Rico and finds out that his dad is the vampire boss, and this whole thing was a setup to get him back. Daschle won't give in and release Rico. Things get hairy, so the whole squad locks themselves in a jail cell until they can figure out an attack plan. Daschle gives in and decides to let Rico out. Unfortunately, Rico is angry and attacks Daschle, so Kirsten is forced to stake the vampire. The crew goes back to fighting. Carla tells John-John if they get out of this alive, she will get them a hotel room. John-John goes into superman action, beating the holy hell out of every zombie in the place and saving everyone's ass.

Everyone except Officer Brown, the remaining LAPD officer. He got bit. Carla takes him down. She keeps her promise to John-John and tells him to meet her at the hotel bar. Billy offers to redress Kirsten's minor bullet wound - she admitted to being a virgin and now Billy is extra-interested in her. As John-John is leaving, the bombie ends up exploding after all.

Dig It or Bury It?

It was 22 minutes of non-stop action. Seriously. Just zombie-busting action. What's not to love?

Splatterfest

The interesting thing about non-stop action is that the camera doesn't linger much on blood n' guts. There was a fun scene where one of the zombie prisoners tries to free himself from the chain gang and ends up taking another zombie's foot off. Billy manages to decapitate a zombie by garroting it with a heavy steel chain. It was like a blood fountain.

Undead Teehee Force

There wasn't a whole lot of chit-chat in this episode, so it was probably the least funny episode of the season. When Stubeck finds out that Kirsten is a virgin, he is immediately impressed and preoccupied, and wants to pick Kirsten's brain about her parents' style of child-rearing. "Pick your brain" may not have been the best choice of words in a zombie attack. At the end of the episode, Billy gives John-John a celebrator root beer, and it foams up and sprays out at John-John. "That looks like my dick on a Sunday morning," comments Daschle. I don't even know exactly what that means, but I have the humor of a 13-year-old boy, so I found it funny.

Prophecies?

The squad attends a funeral, there are suspicions of a mole in the UTF, and a zombie farts.
