Found footage, on a no-budget porno set, and the no-name nobody (aka the "lucky bastard") who gets to bed the sexy starlet is, of course, seriously unhinged and just about to explode in a tornado of impotent fury.

As you can probably tell from the trailers (or even the film's title), Devil's Due is a "haunted pregnancy" horror story, and unfortunately that makes a generally tight little thriller feel a bit more predictable than a "pure" indie film might.

Best described as a mystery/thriller that delves deeply into horror territory Hide and Seek is mainly about a dour and fastidious middle-aged family man who learns that his long-estranged brother -- one who was once banished from the family for reasons of a horrific nature -- has gone missing.

A beautiful young woman wakes up in a dark basement, only to discover that she's being held captive by a pair of lunatics who... Oh, you've seen this horror movie before? Fine. Let me finish.

As a "spin-off" it only briefly connects to the other films -- although the established fans will enjoy the way it does so -- and, to its credit, The Marked Ones heads off in its own direction.

Not many vampire stories manage to revolve around WWI battlefield atrocities and a modern-day story about bank robbers who hole up in a secret hotel in which everyone assumes an ominous nickname... with a bunch of romantic entanglements, double-crosses, and gruesome murders tossed in to keep things weird.

Clearly inspired by low-key indie horror films, Ritual has some decent components in its corner, but its meandering plot, confused narrative structure, and frequently familiar story trappings prevent the "decent components" from gaining much of a foothold.
