The Japanese are stuck on ghosts (with wet hair) or torture porn, neither of which do much for me as ghost stories usually bore me (sorry, not ALL but most) and I prefer creepy to gory as gory is just about pain not fear. The Koreans have made some great revenge and serial killer movies but that is kinda the fringe of horror as they CAN be categorized as CRIME THRILLERS etc. THE HOST, for ME, was pure boring garbage.
I'm filled with a lot of gratitude that this wasn't the movie that introduced me to A-Horror. I may have given up on it entirely if it had. I think either 'A Tale of Two Sisters' or 'The Eye' is going to be next on my must-see list.
Hey all. I had a quick question regarding subtitles. I just got a massive file that's like 30 or so A-Horror flicks and they're softsubbed. Is there any way to convert a softsub to a hardsub file? And if so, how do I do it? Any advice will be appreciated.
I ask only because I watch a ka-boodle of foreign films, hate dubbing and pretty much always have.
Dubbing for the most part destroys my ability to take the film seriously. All the emotion in the dialogue is lost and when voice actors are hired the voices selected are usually dead wrong for the characters portrayed. I was just wondering if there really were people out there who prefer dubbing, and if so... Why?
I've seen Ju-On, Reincarnation and a couple others but I was wondering if you could recommend some other good Asian horror movies to me. Anyway let me know.
Tired of the same ol shit ? ? ? Need a change of pace from good horror. . . . . I mean . . . . the same old horror ? ? Coming in 2011, the wonderful world of wacky tabacky presents. . . . . Japanese zombies !! Over the top you say ! NONSENSE. . . . . . whatta ya want ? The same old wet haired skinny girls making upset stomach noises ?
HELLDRIVER
ok heres a couple of trailers for death bell & coming soon enjoy!
Out of curiousity, I decided to check out the original Shutter on netflix, and I was not disappointed. Unlike the american version, I was genuinely creeped out by the korean version. It had good atmosphere, ambience and much more creative scares than its counterpart. The storyline was a little deeper than the american and seem to bring out more emotion when telling it. My suggestion would be to check it out, at least for some comparision or see its roots.
