For me it's the original (Ringu) although I have to admit I had not seen it until I saw The Ring and someone told me I had to check out the movie it was based on. He said it was better and I agree!
probably a tie between ringu and the american version. agree with the above posting about the quality of the american version. but i felt like the story in ringu had a little more detail that i liked.
I've yet to see the Ring Virus or 0 (though I own the latter), however my favorite film so far is the original. It was just a masterpiece of atmosphere in my opinion, I especially loved the scenes on the island. It's a shame that they wrote Rasen out of the movie continuity, as we probably won't see a Loop movie now (though I've still yet to manage to get a copy of the book --).
The Korean Ring Virus was only faithful enough to the book to make it different from the Japanese version, which originated the idea of the hero being female instead of male, as in the novel, and the ghost coming out of the TV. I like Ring 0 for it's character development, and I like Ringu for it's originality, and the American version for its production values and respect for the source material.
What's your favorite Ring movie?
I actually liked the American version better. The higher production value enhanced the creepy stylized feel that the Japanese invented.

I agree 100 with the above statement.

I personally like The Ring Virus (Korean version) best...but that's mostly because its the most accurate to the novel.
For example it's the only one that deals with just how unique Eun-Suh/Sadako/Samara was before going down the well...
